CEREMONIAL WORK WITH THE GREAT INVOCATION

By Aeptha

Extract from Sunday Service, October 3, 2004

In meditation I was told that there was an aspect of work that we were to do today that is very ceremonial and purposeful in nature, and it is working with the Great Invocation in a very specific way. Then as I started to gather what we needed for the work we were to do, it came to my attention that we are under some very powerful and unusual astrological influences.

Those of you who have been studying with us know that when we speak of the stars, the planets and the constellations, we are not necessarily speaking of them in a traditional way.  We are talking about the powers and potencies that operate through these outer expressions of consciousness that we call the stars and the planets, and the pattern that has been set by the constellations.  A few days ago, on September 28th, there was a pentagram that was traced in the sky by a group of five planets.  The last time this occurred was in 1941, and for those of you who are familiar with history, you will know that 1941 was a time of great change, transition and challenges.  What is even rarer is that this same five-pointed pentagram that was outlined in the sky will occur again on October 28th, and on October 13th we have a solar eclipse, and on October 28th within a few hours of the tracing of this five-pointed star in the sky, there will also be a lunar eclipse.

It gets even more exciting!  Those of you who have studied with us before and who have worked with the Great Invocation may remember that one of the key numbers associated with this Invocation is the number five; in fact five is the number which the Great Invocation reduces down to. So we are still under the influence of a five-pointed star that has been traced out in the skies, and we are working amongst other things with the keynote of five today. I’m going to talk a little bit more about the powers and potencies of five, but for a moment I would like to stay focused on the implication of numbers.

Like most students of the Mysteries, early on in my studies I came across the teachings of Pythagoras and others who talk about numbers as the foundation, the building points, the essential aspect of the true expression of Spirit. I have to be frank with you; numbers have never been my strong suit. The whole idea of numbers just seemed too intimidating for me to grasp, and this was my own personal block.  As adepts and students of the Mysteries we are always challenged to push up against our own ring-pass-not, and so I pushed up against mine around the understanding of numbers.  The truth is that numbers, not unlike the stars, constellations and planets, are actually the outward expression of very deep aspects of Spirit, which is why, in virtually every Mystery school that has existed, numbers, and the powers and potencies that are connected with them, are an intricate part of the studies.

It is of interest to me that in the Western mysteries we are taught numbers in relationship to the point, to the line, and on from there, which in actuality is an expression of numbers that is two-dimensional.  In the Egyptian Mysteries the way that numbers were taught included volume, which then made them three-dimensional concepts.  What is the difference between two-dimensional and three-dimensional?  Third dimension has space; third-dimension, at least in theory, is where we live and move and have our being.  It is manifestation.  So if you are relying on an understanding, an expression, a deepening, a quickening with Spirit in a two-dimensional plane of manifestation as expressed through numerology, then it is more difficult to bring it into manifestation and expression in our three-dimensional reality.  So therefore perhaps it behooves us to stretch our consciousness into what the implications might be of adding volume to that mix. So the point, instead of simply being a dot, becomes the apex of a triangle.  When you add volume to the line, instead of it being perpendicular, it becomes a line on the side of a three-dimensional figure.  Do you see the difference?  When it is three-dimensional it literally carries with it the capacity to hold its full expression in our consciousness as well as in manifestation.

I would speak to those who are not familiar with the Great Invocation.  It is a mantra, and has been called Stanzas of Direction.  It is certainly not the only one, and we fully acknowledge that there have been powerful and potent prayers, mantras, words of power that have been given to humanity for thousands of years by the Great Ones, the Holy Ones, the sages, the teachers, and the walkers between the worlds.  The stanza of the Great Invocation that we are working with today was actually the third and last stanza in a series of three. I believe that the first stanza was given in the 1930s, but this particular stanza was given in 1945.  The Great Invocation was brought through by the master Djwhal Khul who was said to have been of such a level of mastery that while he was working on etheric levels with Alice Bailey he was at the same time in physical embodiment in Tibet as a Tibetan lama, a director of a monastery.  But this Stanza of Direction, this prayer, this mantram of power was very purposeful and was given at a very specific time.  It has been translated into over 80 different languages, and it is used, literally, on a universal level.  It was given in English and the exact original wording has been utilized to bring forth the numerological teaching. In fact the wording is not seen by some as being politically correct, and what I mean by that is that it uses, for example, the word “man” in relationship to humanity, and that has been challenged by some because they felt that it was exclusive.  So there has been a modified version that has gone out to make it palatable for those people who have an issue with this use of words.  We are using the original language because that carries the specific numerological breakdown that is necessary in order for that energy to fully express itself.

We are building in this space, this sanctuary, an organic matrix, a living grail, and we hold the intention that it be a womb.  And with our intention, our love, our will to good, our aspiration, and with the powers and the potencies of the words, the vibrations of the mantra will go forth, and will then birth into the world the light and love and power that is designed to bring forth the manifestation of Divine Will, an expression of the return of the Christ.

We have before us a symbol[i], but having worked with this in the past what I experienced was that it was actually a doorway to the powers and potencies of Sirius.  Sirius is associated, amongst other things, with Isis and with Thoth from the Egyptian pantheon.  It is considered the place of the White Lodge where the Hierarchy resides and through which the Hierarchy expresses and manifests. It is depicted in the color orange, because orange is the color of higher mind. Orange is also the color associated with the all-consuming fire of God.  In the center of the cross is the green emerald which is the symbol associated with an earlier solar system from which we evolved.  So this symbol not only connects us with Sirius, but it actually connects us with the point of origin, as it were, from which this system evolved.  It is an umbilical cord to the very point of origin of the creation of this system that we now reside in.

I would like to speak for a moment of the specific numbers associated with each of the stanzas of the Great Invocation.  Later we will work with the Invocation itself, but for now I am giving you the information so that you can hold the concept in your consciousness of what it is that we are building in this matrix.

The numerology of the first stanza

From the point of Light within the Mind of God

Let light stream forth into the minds of men.

Let Light descend on Earth

is the number eight, and this is associated with Isis.  Eight is associated with the ability to control and wield energy in order to accomplish a goal.  Eight signifies the spiritual Hierarchy and the Christ consciousness.  It lifts one beyond one’s personal environment and into spiritual heights.  Eight is the number of resurrection into a new manner of living.  It spans heaven and earth.  It deals with polarity and balance, and as you know we are now under the authority of the sun sign of Libra.  Eight is associated with the staff of Thoth, the caduceus, the serpent unfolding with its outstretched wings. So when we speak of the first stanza we are speaking of resurrection and we are calling to the power of Isis, the great alchemical goddess and this is indeed a high level of magic.

The second stanza,

From the point of Love within the Heart of God

Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.

May Christ return to Earth

reduces down to the number nine.  Nine is the number of initiation.  It is the number governing humanity's evolution.  It is both mortal and immortal, terrestrial and celestial.  It is the number of contact with the inner self.  It is the place of holy aspiration and inspiration, universality, and cosmic freedom. It is a number of service, the root of all created manifestation.  It is the number of the initiate.

The third stanza reduces to the number five.

From the center where the Will of God is known

Let purpose guide the little wills of men

The purpose which the Masters know and serve

Five, as I have told you, is also the number that the entire Invocation reduces down to. The Gnostics speak of the five powers of the Mothers: faith, hope, gnosis, peace, and love. We’ve spoken of the five vowels of the mother language. But the number five also refers to the building blocks, the nucleotides of the universe. It is the number of the DNA and the RNA, the ultimate building blocks of the universe. And that is the number of the Great Invocation.

In my researching I came across something I had not been exposed to before: a perspective on the understanding of the five vowels as being the Mother tongue.  As you may know, you can sound the vowels if you do not have a tongue, but you have to have a tongue in order to sound the consonants.  In the ancient Hebrew teaching the five vowels were the five gateways through which all good came in, and if wrongly used, they could also be the five gateways through which the five counter-evolutionary forces could enter. Now what is interesting is that there are some who say that there are five ancient miasms from which all miasms spring.  For those who are not familiar with this, miasms are the glamours and illusions, the Maya that bind us.  Rather thought provoking, is it not?  Five is the keystone.  If you look at the nine primary numbers, five is the middle point with four on one side and four on the other. Five is the number for humanity.  It is the quintescent number, the substance of all things. It is said to be the first number where man exerts his authority in the world, for it represents the thinking, conscious human being.  We also know that there are five noble gases, and these are associated with the Tree of Life and the first swirlings.  The five noble gases are primary and they do not blend with each other. They are contained within themselves.  There is a tremendous amount of research going on now concerning the use of the five noble gases in the healing arts. The Ancients associated five with the five wandering planets, which were a source of the five primal aspects of creation.

In the fourth stanza,

From the center which we call the race of men

Let the Plan of Love and Light work out.

And may it seal the door where evil dwells

the root number is four. Four is a symbol of the eternal principle of creation.  To the Mystics, four was the perfect number.  Four is Yod He Vau He, the Tetragrammaton.  In Gnosticism they said that three was of God, and one was of man, and so four was of God and man.  Four signifies the transition of consciousness in ever-increasing rates of vibration.  It is associated with the Four Holy Creatures, the chariot of Elijah. It is also associated with the fourth- dimensional level of contact that is in movement of expression in the Aquarian age.

In the fifth stanza,

Let Light and Love and Power restore the plan on Earth

the root number is six.  It is a working and building number associated with the interrelatedness of human and divine.  Six belongs to Venus and bears the signature of beauty. It is associated with Tiphereth on the Tree of Life, which is harmony and perfect balance, so that the alchemical formula can express itself.

So this is the formula we will be working with today.  I would like us to build the energies with the use of at least one mantra, possibly two.  We're going to start with the chant Ben Ben Helios Helios Ben Ben.  I would like to tell you what Ben Ben is. Benben was the capstone. In the Egyptian mysteries it was said to have been there since the beginning when Atum created.  It was said to be held in what they call the Mansion of the Phoenix, and by the way, the Benu, which is also a chant we may be doing, is the Phoenix.  And it was said that when the Initiates of the Mysteries would come and stand before the Benben Stone that they would be imbued with the levels of secrets and enlightenments that their consciousness could hold.  The Benben Stone is a great power, a great creative force, as well as the master teacher.  So we will be using the chant of Ben Ben Helios.  Helios is the sun, the source of all life, the source of enlightenment.

(The chant, Ben Ben Helios Helios Ben Ben is used for several minutes to build the energy)

I will share this with you: this work is not only greatly needed by all sentient life upon this planet, but it is being called forth from the stars and the planets themselves, for we are all interconnected and we are all of one source and one life. And there is the power of the Phoenix to be resurrected and brought forth from the ashes for its healing, transformation and enlightenment in this great time of power that is being held in the gateways of the two pentagrams. And there is the deepening in the consciousness of the solar and lunar eclipses at this time of Libra in which equilibrium, balance, and resolution of duality in this expression of polarity can be resolved, in accordance with the highest laws and Cosmic Will. And so in order to build this vitality and vibration, we will call to the Benu.

(The chant, Benu Benu On Benu Benu Benu is repeated for several minutes as the energy continues to build.)

Use your breath, your focus, your intention, and your will-to-good to deepen with these energies. We can feel the power and the magic of the five, the building blocks of creation, the mother tongue.  Hail to thee, Isis, the expression of eight, resurrection, active intelligence.  Hail to thee, Thoth.  Bring the healing of thy caduceus through the magic of the Stanza of Direction of the number eight.  Hail to thee, Horus, holder of the Stanza of Direction and the power of nine, initiation, evolution, spanning cosmic freedom.  From the point of light, from the heart of love, from the center where the will of God is known, let the building take place, and from the center which we call the race of man, the place of the Holy Four, the Tetragrammation. And let light and love and power restore the plan on the Earth in accordance with the sacred number six, through beauty and harmony and the interconnectedness of the Divine Life.  And we call to Sirius, to the Hierarchy, that you would take our hearts, our will-to-good, our aspiration, take this and lift this with this power, with this potency, with this sacredness, lift this, this Great Invocation, this Stanza of Direction.  For

From the point of Light within the Mind of God

Let light stream forth into the minds of men.

Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God

Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.

May Christ return to Earth.

From the center where the Will of God is known

Let purpose guide the little wills of men

The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the center which we call the race of men

Let the Plan of Love and Light work out.

And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the plan on Earth.

We as one heart, we as one mind, we as one will, we as one voice, we as one source of love, lift up this prayer now to all life, seen and unseen, to all spheres known and unknown, to all dimensions. See these energies being lifted up.  They are being distributed.  They are above, they are below, and they are all around.

Love to all beings,

North, South, East, West, above, below

Love to all beings.

Compassion to all beings

North, South, East, West, above, below

Compassion to all beings

Joy to all beings

North, South, East, West, above, below

Joy to all beings

Serenity to all beings

North, South, East, West, above, below

Serenity to all beings

Selah, Selah, Selah, Selah, Selah. And it is done.

And as we leave this place, we leave with the Affirmation of Discipleship.

I am a point of light within a greater light.

I am a strand of loving energy within the stream of love divine.

I am a point of sacrificial fire, focused within the fiery Will of God.

And thus I stand.

I am a way by which men may achieve.

I am a source of strength, enabling them to stand.

I am a beam of light, shining upon their way,

And thus I stand.

And standing thus, revolve

And tread this way the ways of men,

And know the ways of God.

And thus I stand.[ii]

Thus we stand, thus we are.

And with my inner vision I am seeing myriads upon myriads, and I give thanks.  It is with great love and gratitude that this action has been offered. It is with great love and gratitude that it has been received, and we leave here blessed, renewed, committed, and we leave here resolved.  And we are one.  And I acknowledge the all-consuming fire that it would burn the dross, and I offer to the fire of the Phoenix all that I am, my commitment, my dedication, my love and my desire. I offer my weaknesses and my strengths, but most of all I offer my hope, my faith, my peace, my gnosis, and my being.

[i]  She refers to a large orange cross on the floor of the sanctuary.
