THE FESTIVAL OF HUMANITY

SUNDAY SERVICE JUNE 1, 2003

It has been quite exhilarating going into the preparation for our work today as there is a very strong ceremonial part of what we are being called to do. Every meditation ceremony is different because we are guided by Spirit and the needs of the time.

I would like to start with a prayer* that speaks of the intention of our work today, so if you would please move inward.

"Focus Your light within us; make it useful, as the rays of a beacon show the  way.  Help us breathe one holy breath, feeling only You. This creates a shrine inside in wholeness.  Help us let go, clear the space inside a busy forgetfulness so the name comes to live.  Your name, your sound can move us if we tune our hearts as instruments for its tone.  Hear the one sound that created all others; in this way the name is hallowed in silence.  In peace the name resides, a room of one's own, a holy of holies, open, giving light to all.  We all look elsewhere for this light, it draws us outside of ourselves, but the name always lives within.  Focus Your light within, make it useful." Amen, Amen, Amen.

This is the time of the Pentecost and it is already in motion, for the fire moved within you, and you are part of the great fire, and the tongues of fire have been released and will come forth in this coming week in full expression, and burst forth to radiate to all life on that sacred day, the 40 day, the day of June 8th. I would encourage you in your meditation time on June 8th to attune to the Agni Deva, to tune to the Solar Heart and let the tongues of fire open your consciousness to new ways, new perceptions, new visions, new paradigms.

As we move through the powers of the Pentecost, we also move into this upcoming celebration of the Festival of Humanity, the Festival of Good Will. This is at the time of the full moon of June. This is the completion and in many ways the new beginning of the three full moon motions of energies that we have been working with here. The first was the energy of the Resurrection Moon. Last month was the April full moon and we worked with the powers and potencies of the Wesak Festival, and now this is the Festival of Humanity. It is the Gemini full moon, and it is on the 14th (of June), although I must say, based upon the communications that have been coming in, I think that full moon is just moving right in with this new moon energy in a very big way. And not unlike the way we were called as we prepared for the other festivals that came before, we are now being called in this Festival, in the working of this full moon energy, to be in service. The ceremonial part of our work today is in alignment with that intention of service.

When I was preparing for this, I was reminded that it is very important, because the Festival of Humanity is the Festival of the Christ, and frankly, everybody is loaded down with that. What I mean is that we have perceptions, feelings, and often times we have illusions and glamours that tie us and bind us in opening to the full possibilities of this high, sacred, holy, universal energy that is not bound by religion or institutions, and is not bound under the authority of any one person or any one place, or even one planet. It is indeed a universal consciousness that has been designated with the title and the authority of the Christ.

In actuality, the Mystical and the Cosmic Christ are not separate energies at all. It is all a continuum of consciousness. I've used the example before that I sometimes see consciousness as a wormhole. Depending on where you are in that wormhole changes your perception not only of what has gone before you, but also how you identify it, and you do not necessarily have the awareness that there is another whole level that you have not yet accessed. And so, as I was preparing for this, I started thinking about the implications of the Mystical Christ. For those of us who have worked in the esoteric traditions, mysticism has at times received a bad name, particularly because of those who are recovering from what we affectionately call the Sixth Ray aspect. This is the devotional aspect that sometimes has led to a distortion when there has been a lack of clarity. There is a misunderstanding around the idea of sacrifice, and there is an exclusion in the name of devotion, and certainly has been so in history in the name of any religion where there has been a misuse of energy. But in truth, I am beginning to suspect that in order to begin to embrace the Cosmic Christ, we must first become the Mystical Christ.

It may indeed be that to become the Mystical Christ is to become one with the Christ. If you go into the Song of Solomon, and the calling to the Beloved, it begins at first with the seeking of the Beloved outside of self. This is not unlike our journey where we seek and experience and call for something bigger than us, and we look for it outside of ourselves. As we know, the Song of Solomon is an ancient testament to the journey of mystical union, and at the end of the song the proclamation is, "I am the Beloved." It is no longer the identification with something outside of self, but it is the sacred union, the sacred alchemy.

We have spoken in class of the Initiations of the Christ, and we learned that those initiations started out with the recognition of Unity. There is not one of you here that does not understand this unity, for you recognize intrinsically in your heart of hearts the unity of all life. While I am not saying that the illusions of separation do not still intrude on our consciousness, but there is a thread of truth that burns within us, that absolutely knows the unity of all life, and knows that thread of consciousness interweaves us. It is not that we do not recognize the appearance of duality. It is that we choose not to identify with it.

And then in our journey and our explorations of the Initiations of the Christ, we found ourselves in the place of Netzach, the place of yearning, on the Tree of Life. Yearning implies a recognition that there is another possibility. You don't yearn for something if you don't recognize that it is possible. And when you reach that place where you are yearning for union with the divine, it is because you know that it is there, you know that it is truth, and you know that not only is there potentiality but that you will settle for nothing less. And it's not that you may not wander off someplace a lifetime or two, but you have the yearning, and the magnetism is drawing you, and the desire is drawing you, and you have the consciousness of Hod on our Tree of Life. In Hod you have the consciousness that recognizes and creates a matrix for this union to be achieved. And in Tiphereth, in the place of unity, they come together. That is the path of the Mystical Christ and the recognition of the unity.

So you see that Mysticism is not just an attribute of the heart. It is of the heart, for there is in truth only one heart, but it is also consciousness. There are those I have had discussions with who are in some of the yogic traditions such as Hatha Yoga, who have said that you come into Christ Consciousness through the path of the heart. That's absolutely true, but you come to Christ Consciousness through the mystical union in the path of the mind. When your mind, your consciousness, the light of illumination, is able to apprehend that all is creation and all is divine, then that is also the path of the Mystical Christ.

It is said that a brilliant mathematician, whose name I don't recall, went through his life in focused pursuit of mathematics, and he had some of the most profound mystical experiences with the Christ through this pursuit of his consciousness, because through mathematics and through his study of mathematics, he saw a profound manifestation of the divine plan of the Christ, of Spirit manifesting in the world, and it took him to his knees.

The mystical union with the Christ is not blind devotionalism. On the contrary, it is consciousness and love, it is light and life, unified as one. It is when we bridge our sense of outside of self to inside, that we experience the mystical union, when we are conscious that all is divine, even those events in our lives that seem tragic, even those things outside of ourselves in the world that seem irreconcilable. How can it be that a starving child and even the act of starving is not of the Christ? I felt you all pull back on that. That's lack of faith. You know why? Because you don't really believe that there is a plan. And you do not believe that you are a part of that plan, because if you believed that, then it would make sense on some level that even that which seems irreconcilable, like starving, is somehow part of that plan.

Does it mean that you do not take responsibility in that plan? No. It doesn't mean that you sit back and say, "That's their karma," and walk away. It isn't that. It is the absolute knowingness that you are divine and you have divinity that you can tap into that is both of yourself and greater than yourself. Then you can change that which is to be changed in accordance with the Divine Plan, and in truth, you can bridge that gap. But if you believe that there are those things that are under the domain of the Creator, and those things that are not, then we're in a hell of a situation, aren't we? Because then we have intrinsic separation, and going back to what I just spoke of, if the foundation of embracing and becoming the Beloved is the recognition of unity, then you can't pick and choose what you want to unify.

In order to become a cell in the body of the Cosmic Christ we must first become the Mystical Christ. Then we operate intrinsically, absolutely, under the essential recognition that there is a plan, and under the essential recognition that we don't understand it, but that we are a part of it. And as a part of it, we effect change by rightness of Will, by connection with the one Solar Heart, the Mystical Heart, and by opening areas of consciousness to all of the possibilities. It has been said that the resolution of what we've seen as the greatest amount of chaos, disorder and fear on our planet that has sprung out of our miasms, -everything from health issues to violence - that the answers, the understandings, the cures are right there, but that we do not have the eyes to see them. We do not have the area of mind open to retrieve them.

We will be working with The Great Invocation today. This teaching came from a Master Teacher in the early 1900's and has now been translated into over 70 different languages. It is a mantric fount of great potency, and it has and does effect change. It has been said that if we could align ourselves with the words in absolute clarity, and use this as a unified voice, then instantaneously the world would change in a way that would reflect the manifestation of both the Mystical and Cosmic Christ. I think that perhaps the best way to embrace the potentiality, the concept, of the Cosmic Christ, is to understand that each cell in the body of the Cosmic Christ is a manifestation of the Mystical Christ. The body of the Cosmic Christ is made up of trillions upon trillions of cells of Mystical Christ-consciousness. As we strive and yearn and open to the consciousness to be the Mystical Christ, so we become a cell in the body of the Cosmic Christ.

It is said that in this Festival of Humanity, at this June full moon, the energies that have been coming in from the other Festivals are poured out by the Cosmic Christ onto all of humanity, to be utilized in the upcoming year. And it is said that in preparation for this ceremony, not the words, but the sounds that are carried in the teachings of the Four Noble Truths are sounded out during this two-day Festival on the inner levels. Now you may think it somewhat odd that if indeed this is so, that the Christ would be working with the energies of the teachings of the Buddha. You may think, "Doesn't He have something of His own to say?" I have to bring in a little levity because we are talking about such big stuff.

In the last service we spoke of the Buddha and His teachings that were brought forth into the consciousness of humanity approximately 500 years before the Indwelling Christ came and brought His teachings forth. The message of wisdom was necessary so that the space, as it were, in consciousness, could be created so that the messenger and embodiment of love could then take root so that the vine would bear fruit. We know that the Will energy has been unveiled, and we are now getting a deeper, more profound impact from the First Ray of Will Power. It is said that at each festival, particularly in these times of greater Will energy, the reason that the notes of wisdom are sounded is because as the Cosmic Christ pours forth in this Festival, so that wisdom deepens. Speaking in another languaging, the Priest prepares the way so that the King may enter. So open yourselves in this time that the Priest within will make the way for the King, so that the Kingdom may be made manifest.

When the Great Invocation was given there were five levels of understanding that were given out. It was said that if you could grasp this and use these energies that it would deepen and accelerate the power and potency of this great prayer. So I am going to go over these with you, and as we move into ceremony we will be moving into those understandings, calling to those powers in a different way. I want to give you a cognitive framework for opening to new areas of mind.

The first is: Let the forces of light bring illumination to mankind. This is said to be calling to those cosmic powers and potencies that are holding open the doorway to the illumined consciousness. In Christian terminology it would be the Seven who sit before the throne of God. And so when we call to this level, we are calling to these cosmic doorways of light to flood us, to be used in service in this Great Invocation.

Let the Spirit of Peace spread abroad. Now peace is another word that has a whole lot of bugaboo around it. Yeshua, the embodiment of the Christ, was referred to as the Prince of Peace. It is said that there is a great Avatar of Peace who has not yet been able to manifest upon this plane. Based upon our state of affairs, we might probably think that. But peace actually has a synthesizing quality. It is the capacity to synthesize consciousness. Remember all of the right brain/left brain stuff we've been talking about? It is also about the loving use of the Will aspect. And so we are calling to the power of the Great Synthesizer. We are calling to the loving use of will power.

May men of goodwill everywhere meet in the spirit of cooperation. This is the intention that the will-to- good be made manifest.

May forgiveness on the part of all men be the keynote of this time. Now forgiveness is another word that I think there is a lot confusion around. Forgiveness, in the truest sense, is the giving up of self. Think about that. So in this line, we are asking that all humans in the keynote of this time get over themselves. In other words, that is true sacrificial service. It is the releasing of the identity of self so that you then embody and identify with the Mystical Christ, in truth that which is both within and without. Instead of calling for the Beloved, you become the Beloved.

Let power attend the efforts of the Great Ones. When this proclamation is spoken by a human being, it is with the intention, the agreement and the request that humanity throw its weight behind the Great Ones. Now it may seem odd to even have to say that. But the truth is that usually we don't. We not only don't support the work of the Great Ones, we also attempt to stop it. This proclamation states our intention to put our weight behind the work of the Great Ones.

So I believe we are ready to begin. Each quarter of the room will be working with a particular stanza and you can follow my lead. We are going to be preparing the energy, and we will be working with the Great Invocation. Then I will instruct you to move in deeper, because we will then create the space that this energy needs to be held with. Just become aware of your breath. There is another prayer* that I will speak that will then move us into this next level of intention:

"Create your reign of unity now through our fiery hearts and willing hands.
Let your counsel rule our lives, clearing our intention for co-creation.  Unite our "I can" to yours so that we walk as kings and queens with every creature.  Desire with and through us, the rule of universal fruitfulness unto the earth.  Your rule springs into existence as our arms reach out to embrace all creation.   Come into the bedroom of our hearts; prepare us for the marriage of power and beauty.  From this divine union, let us birth new images for a new world of peace.  Create your reign of unity now." Amen

First Quarter
"Let the forces of light bring illumination to mankind."
(The Tibetan horn is blown.) Aeptha: And so you are the upholders of this intention.

Second Quarter
"Let the Spirit of Peace spread abroad."
(The Tibetan horn is blown.) Aeptha: And so you are the upholders of this intention.

Third Quarter
"May men of good will everywhere meet in the spirit of cooperation."
(The Tibetan horn is blown.) Aeptha: And so you are the upholders of this intention.

Fourth Quarter
"May forgiveness on the part of all men be the keynote of this time."
(The Tibetan horn is blown.) Aeptha: And so you are the upholders of this intention.

Facing Altar:
All together: "Let power attend the efforts of the Great Ones."
(The Tibetan horn is blown.) Aeptha: And so we all are the upholders of this intention.

Aeptha: Into the Cosmic Cross (Note: The Fixed Cross) upon which the Cosmic Christ resides, we go now. And I stand before you, upholders, as you state this truth of understanding.

First Quarter: (Note: represent the energies of Taurus)
I seek illumination and am myself the light.
Aeptha: Know that you are the light and that which you have sought, that you have yearned for, is so.

Second Quarter: (Note: represent the energies of Leo)
I know myself to be the One. I rule by the Law.
Aeptha: For thine is the kingdom, the power and glory. And so the King will be made manifest.

Third Quarter: (Note: represent the energies of Scorpio)
Illusion cannot hold me. I am the bird that flies with utter freedom.
Aeptha: The birds are freedom with the Holy Spirit. So it is made manifest. I bow in honor.

Fourth Quarter: (Note: represent the energies of Aquarius)
I am the server, and I the dispenser am of living water.
Aeptha: You are the living waters. Into a thirsty world pour forth your love.

(Note: These energies were used in this formula to bring in the patterning of the Cosmic Christ, for according to Alice Bailey's work, they are of the perfected Fixed Cross, and it is from these energies that the Cosmic Christ is born.)

Aeptha, to all seated in the first quarter: If all of you would proclaim the First stanza.
"From the point of light within the Mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of men
Let light descent on earth."

Aeptha, to all those in the second quarter: And to you upholders of the kingdom, speak and proclaim the Second Stanza.
"From the point of love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men
May Christ return to earth."

Aeptha, to all those seated in the third quarter: And to you who are not bound by illusions or glamour, speak now and proclaim the Third Stanza.
"From the Center where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men
The purpose which the Masters know and serve."

Aeptha, to all those seated in the fourth quarter: And to the living Christ you have proclaimed yourself. Step forward in this faithful union, speak now and proclaim the power.
"From the center which we call the race of men
Let the plan of love and light work out,
And may it seal the door where evil dwells."

Aeptha, to all present: And so we all together, as the five made as one, will say the last.
"Let light and love and power restore the plan on earth.
Let light and love and power restore the plan on earth.
Let light and love and power restore the plan on earth."

Aeptha: Be aware of the cone of power that has been created, and we are being asked, as upholders, to say The Great Invocation into this cone of power to be released by the forces of the light. (The Great Invocation is repeated by all.)

Chants: Adonai Tetragrammaton
For I am the Beloved, and the Beloved is mine, and I am the Beloved's.

Aeptha: For illumined you are and you see with the all-seeing eye. Royal you are for you are the kingdom, upholders of the sacred laws of the creators, of the manifestors, of the Great Mothers. You are the sons and daughters free of illusion, bound no more, that you can give in true service freely, unceasing, for you are of the fonts to which there is no beginning and no end. Upholders, manifestors, lovers of life, light bearers. And we offer ourselves to be the living invocation, the manifested light, the sacred fire, synthesizing bridge, the sacred builders. We are the heart of the world, we are the voice, we are the wind, we are the trees, we are children's laughter, we are children's tears. We are the cry out in the wilderness and we are the stars that shine, and we are the solar winds.

And it is in this place that I speak now to the Holy Ones, the Great Ones, the Sacred Ones who bear witness here, who assist here. I call to the Cosmic Christ. Your one desire then acts with ours, as in all light, so in all forms. Let all wills move together in your vortex as stars and planets swirl through the sky. Help us love beyond our ideals and sprout acts of compassion for all creatures as we find your love in ours. Let heaven and nature form a new creation. Unite us with a vision of passionate purpose. Light mates with form. Create in us a divine cooperation with all cells as one voice, one action. Let your heart's fervent desire unite heaven and earth through our harmony. Let our hearts' fervent desire unite earth and heaven, heaven and earth, above and below and all around, for your harmony, your one desire then acts with ours, as in all lights, so in all forms. And it is so. So mote it be. And we are one, and as one, we are all.

And so let it be known, that which has been created in this sacred space. We hold this matrix that the living Christ would pour forth. And in this upcoming time we will hold with our intention, we will hold with our will, we will hold with our heart, we will hold with the service of our hands, with the power of our voice, with the integrity of our inner ear, that which is to be made manifest in this holy time.

And I invite you very slowly to be in this space, and with this power of balance, repeat: Inri Natura Rex Intiga. (This is chanted by all.)

Aeptha: I would ask that we stand to say the Mantra of Unification:
All:
"The sons of men are one and I am one with them.
I seek to love, not hate.
I seek to serve and not exact due service;
I seek to heal, not hurt.
Let pain bring due reward of light and love.
Let the soul control the outer form,
And life, and all events,
And bring to light the Love
Which underlies the happenings of the time.
Let vision come and insight.
Let the future stand revealed.
Let inner union demonstrate and outer cleavages be gone.
Let love prevail.
Let all men love."

Aeptha: We are one heart and we are one with the Sacred Heart. We are all one will-to-good, and we are at one with the will of absolute. I love you, I honor you, and I am blessed by you, and as we go forth this day in the beauty and wonder of this sacred creation, let us know ourselves as sacred with every breath, every thought, every hug, and in all ways. We give thanks, and it is done.
