Orientation August

Monthly: August 2010
through May 2011
When
neophytes enter into the practice of the magical arts they soon learn
that the reason for this course of life-choice is in order to better
serve fellow humanity. “I desire to know in order to serve” says the
neophyte of the Mysteries.
And so our course of study this year will be
in applied magic and the training of the magician. I like Israel
Regardie’s primal definition, “Magic, whether of the eastern or
western variety, is essentially a divine process – Theurgy, a mode of
spiritual culture or development.”
Our intent is to more fully express our inner self
in everyday activities. We are the “microcosm” or small universe in the
“macrocosm”, or the greater universe. There is potentially present all
the powers and forces of the greater universe within our nature. As
initiates of the Mysteries we declare, “There is no part of me that
is not part of the Gods.”
All magical work begins within and is
projected outwardly. The inevitable end of Magic is identical to that
conceived of in Mysticism: union with the Godhead. Magic conceives of
divinity as Spirit and Light and Love.
Our
studies will be divided into these primary components:
Divination,
Evocation, Vision and Invocation.
Divination
is not ultimately concerned with mere fortune-telling but it has as its
objective the development of the inner psychic faculty of intuition. We
will deepen in the proper and safe use of
Evocation
and utilize techniques of Vision that enlarge the horizon of the mind.
In Invocation we act in such a way as to attract the attention of some
Being of a superior nature to our own, or some cosmic force of a higher
order.
Classes
are offered once a month on Sundays in conjunction with the ceremonial
services. We will meet at 11:00 am for service, break for lunch and then
continue with class or ceremony until 5:30. Please bring your bag lunch.
The cost is $350.00 and a payment plan is available upon request.
