In all
cultures and traditions since the earliest recorded times, the Winter
Solstice has been honored and observed in a wide variety of ways ranging
from ceremony, prayer, feasting, dance, gift giving as well as
celebration and purification. A common element in the various
expressions of the Winter Solstice in all cultures is light; the most
often utilized light is fire. Often these rituals continue for days if
not weeks, in conscious recognition of and participation in this
celestial and earthly gateway both as an opportunity, and from the
ancients' perspective, a necessity to support the return of the light.
Light
Haven invites you all to join us for High Ceremony in which we honor the
Birth of the Invincible Sun. In ceremony we will offer our gifts to the
world: our gift of love, hope and commitment to good that our prayers
and intentions be carried on the solar winds by the Angels of High Magic
to do the great work to come in the following year.
We will
honor the closing of the year with thanks for what has been received,
gathering wisdom from what has been taught and healing for that which is
in need as we set the intention and the energy to bring 2009 forward in
its beauty.
We ask
that you arrive promptly at 7:30 to dress in your robe and prepare
yourself. Once the ritual begins at 8:00 there will be no further
admittance so that the prepared temple space may be held. Upon
completion of the ceremony in the sanctuary, we will proceed to the
multi-course communal feast in the recreation room.
Please
bring a white ritual robe or a change of white clothing as well as white
socks or white temple shoes. There are a limited number of loaner robes
available, so please contact the temple in advance to make arrangements
if necessary.
We look
forward to our time together and ask that you let us know by December 8th
so we can prepare accordingly.
